Head Coach: Derek Howard

Derek Howard enters his fourth season as head coach of the Wilson football program in 2020-2021. The Tigers have gone 24-18 under Howard as he and his staff have been working tirelessly to reestablish Wilson High School football as one of the premier programs in the state of South Carolina.

 

Prior to coming to Wilson, Howard served as the Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator at Ridge View High School for five years. From 2008-2011, he served as the Offensive Coordinator and QB coach at Keenan High School. Howard also has coaching experience at Fairfield Central High School, Lower Richland High School and Allen University. In total he has 17 years of coaching experience. 

 

Howard is a graduate of Morehouse College (Atlanta, GA) where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. While at Morehouse, he was a 4-year starter at running back. Howard is a member of the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association, American Football Coaches Association and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated. In the classroom, he has spent 17 years as a Chemistry teacher. 

 

Howard has been married to the former Desiree Jordan for 15 years and they have three kids, Dekere (15), Derek III (11) and Drew (6).
